Davit Markosyan is an interdisciplinary researcher and educator with extensive expertise in agricultural economics and sustainable resource management. As a Ph.D. candidate with affiliations at prestigious institutions such as Humboldt University and the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy, Davit has led innovative research projects and contributed to renowned academic journals. His interdisciplinary approach, combining advanced quantitative and qualitative methods with practical insights grounded in systems thinking, has resulted in impactful studies on sustainability mostly focused on socio-technical innovations and their feasibilities. He has a proven track record in conducting cost-benefit analyses, designing research proposals, managing projects, and effectively engaging stakeholders. Davit’s professional journey includes extensive collaboration with local and international organizations, contributing to development projects that promote economic growth, sustainability, and environmental consciousness in Armenia. His experience spans initiatives funded by GIZ, UN-FAO, Austrian Development Agency, UN WFP, and Armenia’s Ministry of Economy, highlighting his ability to integrate academic expertise with real-world impact. His teaching experience encompasses climate change, bioeconomy, energy management, sustainable urban development, and the economic principles underlying effective management practices.
My journey in agribusiness and economics began at the Agribusiness Department affiliated with Texas A&M University. Through this dual experience, I gained a strong foundation in agricultural economics, business strategy, and market analysis.
As part of my academic journey, I participated in an exchange program at the University of Tuscia in Viterbo, Italy. This experience broadened my perspective on global agribusiness practices and sustainable food systems. Immersed in an international learning environment, I gained valuable insights into European agricultural policies, market trends, and innovative business models.
As a Guest Ph.D. Researcher at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, supported by a fellowship from the Berlin House of Representatives and DAAD, I explored the intersection of circular economy, sustainable business models, and policy development. This research period provided valuable academic collaboration opportunities, deepening my expertise in data-driven sustainability strategies while engaging with Berlin’s dynamic research community.
During this period, I was a guest researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy.
As a Guest Ph.D. Researcher at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, supported by an Erasmus-funded fellowship from the European Commission, I focused on the socio-economic dimensions of circular business models. This experience allowed me to engage with interdisciplinary research, analyze sustainability policies, and collaborate with scholars in Athens, enriching my perspective on sustainable development and policy integration.
